Pastor anniversary

First Mount Carmel Baptist Church, in Winfield, will celebrate Pastor Appreciation Day at 10 a.m. Sunday in recognition of the 18th anniversary of the Rev. Roscoe Perry. Guest minister for the celebration will be the Rev. Martris Mims, the pastor of Thankful Baptist Church in Blythe.

Gospel concert

A bluegrass country gospel concert featuring the Byrd Family, Jessie Blodgett, Tom and Jean, Frank Greiner, Larry Lord and The Roberts will be held at 7 p.m. Saturday at the Purvis Community School, on the Thomson-Wrens Highway. Call (706) 651-1971.

Candidate forum

Candidates for Columbia County school board chairman and Columbia County Commission District 2 have been invited to speak during the monthly meeting of the Democratic Party of Columbia County a 7 p.m. Sept. 11 in the auditorium in Building A of the government complex in Evans. Networking event

The Columbia County Chamber of Commerce will hold its bimonthly Success Columbia County Style networking event from 5-7 p.m. Sept. 18 at the River Island Clubhouse, with hosts Blanchard and Calhoun and catering by French Market Grille West. Chamber night

The Augusta GreenJackets will hold Columbia County Night Saturday at Lake Olmstead Stadium in Augusta. Before the 7 p.m. game time, the championship Greenbrier and Augusta Christian baseball teams will be honored at home plate, and other events during the game will celebrate Columbia County.
