Columbia County will be shining bright on Saturday when the spotlight turns on our Chamber of Commerce at the GreenJackets stadium.

The Chamber has arranged for several of our county's finest to be recognized that evening including: Greenbrier and Augusta Christian state championship baseball teams; the Dixie O Zone World Series Champions; several Girl Scout and Boy Scout troops; and a performance by the Children's Musical Theatre Workshop directed by Mickey Lubeck.

Plans are being made for Commission Chairman Ron Cross, state Rep. Ben Harbin, state Sen. Jim Whitehead and Chamber Executive Director Gordon Renshaw to present our championship teams with a Certificate of Merit Membership. Additionally, Columbia County Board of Education Chairman Wayne Bridges will be on hand with several key Ripken Baseball and Augusta GreenJackets representatives for a very exciting announcement of new initiatives planned for our Columbia County schools.

Your Columbia County Chamber of Commerce has been unveiling numerous inaugural initiatives in 2006 to supplement the positive growth in our community. This new baseball program, called "Healthy Choices," designed by the Ripken Group (who chose Columbia County as the test site) will be yet another of many ways your Chamber offers value to its membership and the business community, while impacting the growth and quality of life for all the citizens of Columbia County.

Please call the Augusta GreenJackets at (706) 736-7889 for your extra-value Chamber night admission details. Come join us on Saturday and be a part of this wonderful event!
