All Columbia County libraries will be closed today for staff training. The libraries also will be closed Sept. 2-4 for software and server updates.
CareFair
The seventh annual CareFair for Women will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Augusta State University Athletic Complex, off Wrightsboro Road. The event is free, with a free tote bag to the first 2,500 women. For information, call (706) 651-3247.
Boat safety course
The Savannah River Sail and Power Squadron will hold its Boat Smart safety courses beginning with Boat Handling and Seamanship from 6:30-9 p.m. Thursday at the Augusta Fire Station at Broad Street and East Boundary, in Augusta. Future classes will be held Aug. 31 and Sept. 7, with final exams Sept. 14. Cost is $25. For information, call (706) 863-2043.
Pet event

Game night
The Augusta Green-Jackets will hold Columbia County Night on Sept. 2 at Lake Olmstead Stadium. Before the 7 p.m. game, the championship Greenbrier and Augusta Christian baseball teams will be honored at home plate, and other events during the game will celebrate Columbia County. Alzheimer's class
