Georgia Southern University honor

Whitney Elizabeth Blackburn was initiated into Phi Eta Sigma, National Honor Society for College Freshman, on February 12 for achieving at least a 3.5 grade point average. Whitney is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dwayne Blackburn, of Martinez.

Local residents named as Furman scholars

Andrew G. House, of Evans , a graduate of Augusta Christian School, and Mason J. Webb, of Evans, a graduate of Westminster Schools of Augusta, have been named Furman Scholars for obtaining a minimum 3.75 grade point average and ranking in the top 5 percent of their classes with strong test scores. As Furman scholars, House and Webb are guaranteed of receiving a tuition scholarship of $3,500.

University of Georgia School of Law Graduates

The following graduated from the University of Georgia Law school at commencement ceremonies held May 20: Seth Davis, son of Phil and Abbie Davis, of Martinez, and Nicole Garsombke, daughter of Dr. Thomas W. Garsombke, of Augusta.

Martinez resident graduates from Boston University

Kavya M. Sebastian, of Martinez, graduated from Boston University, receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree in Medicine.

Area student named to Wofford Dean's List

Rebecca Koger, of Evans, has been named to the Wofford College Dean's List for the spring semester.
