Softball tryouts
Evans High School will conduct softball tryouts from 4-7 p.m. Aug. 1 at the Evans High softball field. Players must bring a current physical and insurance form.
Volleyball tryouts

Tennis registration
The CSRA Junior Tennis League will have open registration for the fall tennis season Aug. 6-20. Anyone ages 8-18 is welcome. To register, go to www.csratennis.com and in the menu under "Registration" and "Juniors" click "Player". The league fee is $20 plus a $2 TennisLink fee. Golf tournament
The Patriot Day Golf Tournament will be Sept. 11 at Mount Vintage Plantation Golf Club in North Augusta to benefit the Ronald McDonald House Charities. Registration begins at 9:30 a.m., with a shotgun start at noon. A four-player team costs $1,000 for the shamble-format tournament. For more information call (706) 294-4040.

Charity basketball
The 13th annual Jawbones vs. Sawbones (lawyers vs. doctors) basketball game, benefiting Rape Crisis and Sexual Assault Services, will be at 7 p.m. Aug. 18 at the Greenbrier High School gym. The event includes food, door prizes and entertainment. For information, call (706) 231-4640.
Home school baseball
The CSRA Crusaders home school baseball team and head coach Chileno Valdez are looking for home schooled middle- and high-school boys to fill middle school, junior varsity and varsity baseball rosters. Boys attending a school with no baseball program may try out. The Crusaders will hold an eight-week baseball camp for elementary-aged boys starting in September. Travel baseball team
The Columbia County Stealth, a U-12 baseball team, is seeking players willing to travel and play at a high level of competition. Pitching or catching experience is beneficial. Volleyball workouts
