Gospel Water Branch Baptist Church, at 703 Furys Ferry Road, Evans, will give away produce to needy families starting at 8:30 a.m. Aug. 12. Free car washes also will be available.

Country concert

Country music writers Wynn Varble, Don Sampson and Monty Holmes will perform at 7:30 p.m. Friday at the Jabez Sanford Hardin Performing Arts Center in Evans. Summer on Canal

Columbia County's annual Summertime on the Canal festival will be held from 3-10 p.m. Saturday at Savannah Rapids Pavilion, including vendors, games and musical performances. For information, call (706) 312-7194.

Symphony series

The Augusta Symphony will inaugurate its Columbia County Music Series at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 4 at the Jabez Sanford Hardin Performing Arts Center in Evans. The series includes four concerts, with tickets costing $70 for all four. For information, call (706) 826-4705.

New library hours

The Columbia County Library in Evans has increased its hours of operation during the remainder of the summer. Until Aug. 3, the library will be open from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays and from 2-5 p.m. Sundays.

Grants offered

July 31 is the deadline for applications for 2006 Unrestricted Grant Funding from the Community Foundation for the CSRA. Grants are available to 501(c)(3) organizations serving Columbia and other area counties. For applications and information, go to www.cfcsra.org, or call (706) 724-1314.
