Salutatorian named

Jennifer Louise Werner, daughter of Jim and Doris Werner, of Upper Pottsgrove Township, Pa., formerly of Martinez, was named Salutatorian of the Class of 2006 at Pottsgrove High School. Jennifer is a former student of Lakeside High School, where she was active in Debate, the Beta Club, LSC and Student Government. At Pottsgrove, Jennifer has been an active member of the National Honor Society, Science Club, History Club and DECA. In April, she represented Pottsgrove High School and Pennsylvania at the International DECA competition in Dallas after winning the state competition in Hershey, Pa., in February. She will attend Albright College in Reading, Pa., as a Jacob Albright scholar. She will major in chemistry, math and secondary education in the Honors Program.
Area student receives All-American Scholar award
The U. S. Achievement Academy has announced that Charnele Ringer, of Martinez, has been named an All-American Scholar At-Large Award Winner. Ringer will appear in the All-American Scholar Official Yearbook, which is published nationally. Ringer is a student at Columbia Middle School and is the daughter of Samuel and Marie Ringer, of Martinez. Grandparents are Iphigenia Wilson, of Brooklyn, New York, and Keith E. Barton, of Philadelphia, Pa.
SPSU Dean's List
Christopher W. Gamblin has been named to the Southern Polytechnic State University's Dean's List in the spring. Gamblin has made the dean's list three straight semesters. He has been accepted to attend Georgia Tech in the fall as a civil engineering major. He attended Harlem High School. He is the son of Billy and Denise Gamblin.
Scholarship
Steve Kuss, son of James and Elizabeth Kuss, of Grovetown, has been awarded the Dorothy Few Lee Scholarship for the 2006-2007 academic year at Georgia Southern University. Kuss is a theatre major.

Student named to Order of the Purple Seal
Angela Kay Maselli, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John A. Maselli, of Evans, has been named to the Order of the Purple Seal for obtaining at least a 3.50 grade point average for four full-time semesters. She is a junior majoring in dance and business at Columbia College.
Cadet receives honors from academy
Curtis J. Pickard, of Evans, son of Curtis and Cheryl Pickard, has been awarded the Junior High B.B. certificate, a golf letter and the band certificate of achievement from the Camden Military Academy in Camden South Carolina. The cadet is a rising ninth grader in the academy.
Columbia Middle student receives award
Charlene Ringer, of Martinez, had been recognized for academic achievement as a United States National Honor Student Award Ringer. The daughter of Samuel and Marie Ringer, of Martinez, Ringer is a student of Columbia Middle and will appear in the United States Achievement Academy's Official Yearbook, which is published nationally.
GSWSU president's list honoree for spring
Gregory A. Ryan, of Evans, recently earned the honor of being placed on the president's list for the spring semester at Georgia SouthWestern State University by earning a 4.0 grade point average after taking 15 hours of courses.
Valdosta State University dean's list

Katie Elizabeth Crislip, of Evans, and Laura C. Sesto, of Evans, are both spring graduates of Valdosta State University. Crislip received a Bachelor of Science in Education degree with a Communication Disorders concentration and Sesto received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Art.

Furman University dean's list honorees
The following have been included on Furman University's dean's list for the spring: Mary E. Mangum, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Byron Mangum, of Martinez, and Jennifer A. Walters, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Gordon Walters, of Martinez. The dean's list is comprised of undergraduate students who earn a grade point average of 3.4 or higher and is compiled at the end of each of Furman's three terms.
Spring Berry College graduates
Brandon David Elijah, son of Richard and Sherry Elijah, of Evans, received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Government and Elizabeth Alisa Perry, daughter of Daniel and Judith Perry, of Grovetown, received a Bachelor of Science degree in Education from Berry College at spring commencement ceremonies.
Fort Gordon scholarship recipient
Tyrell Dyson, son of Joyce and Barney Dyson, of Grovetown, is a recipient of a $1,500 college scholarship awarded at Fort Gordon. Dyson will attend Erskine College in the fall. The scholarship Dyson received was sponsored by the Hefty/Pactiv Corporation, and applicants for the scholarship were required to have a minimum 3.0 grade point average, participate in voluntary school and community activities, demonstrate leadership qualities and write an essay.
Samford University spring graduate
Jessica Marie Colbert, of Martinez, received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration from Samford University. Commencement ceremonies for the spring semester were held on May 20.
Truman State University president's list honoree
Rebecca Susan Gell, of Evans, has been included in the president's list of Truman State University. Gell is a Economics and Pre-Business Administration major at the university and has earned at least 12 undergraduate semester hours with a 4.0 grade point average.
Wake Forest dean's list
Levi Anderson Pollard, of Appling, has been named to the Wake Forest University dean's list for the spring semester.
Roanoke mention
Roanoke College, in Salem, Va., has recently named John Andrew Gleason, of Evans, to the faculty's list of honorable mention for the spring semester. Gleason is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Daniel T. Gleason.
SUIC dean's list
Southern Illinois University Carbondale named 3,247 students to its spring semester deans' list, including Christine Renee Shedrick, of Evans; Devlon Ramondo Alexander and Robert Walter Kilbride, of Grovetown; and Chris Wayne Casey, of Martinez.
Emory dean's list
The following area residents were named to the dean's list of Emory College for the spring semester: Erin Milnes, daughter of Michael D Milnes and Margaret M Milnes, of Martinez; and, Kevin Brown, of Martinez, son of Dr. Alan Wayne Brown and Sheryl Simmons Brown.

Emory University has recently named Sumant Ponnala, of Evans, son of Navin Chandra Ponnala and Rajeshwari Devi Ponnala, to the honor list of Oxford College for the spring semester. Jennifer Yuan, of Martinez, daughter of Yen Yen Pu Yuan, was named to the merit list of Oxford College for the spring semester.

Briana Moody, of Martinez, was among the 327 students named to the Reinhardt College dean's list for spring semester.
