New library hours
The Columbia County Library in Evans has increased its hours of operation during the remainder of the summer. Until Aug. 3, the library will be open from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays and from 2-5 p.m. Sundays.
Grants offered
July 31 is the deadline for applications for 2006 Unrestricted Grant Funding from the Community Foundation for the CSRA. Grants are available to 501(c)(3) organizations serving Columbia and other local counties.

Beagle club
The CSRA Beagle Club will hold its seventh annual barbecue and trade day from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. July 29 at the Winfield Community Center, with pet supplies, a reptile show, pony rides and BB gun safety and marksmanship training. Beagle owners are invited to bring beagle- and rabbit-hunting-related items to sell, trade or exhibit.
