We are writing to encourage readers of this paper who will be voting this month for the leadership of Columbia County.

We have a lot to be encouraged about. While governments all around us are struggling, our Columbia County Commission is doing an excellent job of managing the rapid growth created by our county's high quality of life.

Please keep in mind that this achievement has come under the solid leadership of Ron Cross, who has served as chairman of the Columbia County Commission for the past four years.

In the years we've known him, we've come to appreciate Ron as an exceptional person. Simply put, he is not your typical politician. His extraordinary knowledge of government and business in Columbia County is balanced with the genuine qualities of humility, compassion and fairness. And his vision for our future is grounded in a realistic sense of the needs of our neighborhoods and families.

On a more personal level, we've also witnessed Ron living out his Christian faith in genuine and unpretentious ways. Two years ago, for example, Ron opened the doors of his own company's office to a Columbia County church that needed a home. And since then, he has gone beyond the call of duty to help its service to the community grow. Over and over, we've seen him reach out to folks in need, often at a personal cost. You don't hear about most of these kindnesses; he does what he does simply because he believes it is the right thing to do.

As we've said, we have much to be encouraged about as we cast our votes this July and November. The future of Columbia County is bright and so is our choice for leadership. I hope you will join us in voting for one of Columbia County's finest public servants - Ron Cross.
