Army National Guard Spec. James T. Taylor has been mobilized and activated for a future deployment to an undisclosed overseas location in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. Taylor, a security forces member with two years of military service, is normally assigned to Elberton, Ga. He is the son of Jessie Taylor, of Augusta, and Eva Smith, of Monroe, Ga. His wife, Z. Taylor is the daughter of Patricia Mani, of Appling.
Specialist course graduate
Marine Corps Pfc. Brett A. Ringgold, son of Karen M. and Leo K. Ringgold of Evans, recently graduated from the Ammunition Technician Specialist Course while assigned to Marine Corps Detachment Redstone Arsenal, Ala. During the course, Ringgold was instructed on the basics of automated accountability, receipt, storage, issue, handling and inventory of ammunition. Ringgold is a 2005 graduate of Lakeside High School and joined the Marine Corps in August 2005.
Wheale name to Summerall Guards
Patrick John Wheale, son of Duncan and Carolyn Wheale, of Martinez, is a member of the 2007 Summerall Guards, the precision drill platoon at The Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina. The Guards made their official debut March 18 during the 163rd birthday celebration of the founding of the South Carolina Corps of Cadets.

Army Spec. James A. Getts has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia. Getts is the son of Alan Getts, of Evans. He graduated in 1998 from Augusta Christian School and received a bachelor's degree in 2003 from Emmanuel College, Franklin Springs, Ga.
