As the Fourth of July nears, some area groups are already getting into the patriotic spirit.
The Church of the Holy Comforter will sponsor its Sixth annual Patriotic Concert and Barbecue at 5 p.m. Sunday at Savannah Rapids Pavilion.
The free concert will feature patriotic music by the Savannah River Winds, under the direction of Richard Brasco.
A barbecue dinner also will be available for $6 for adults and youth and $4 for children 5 to 12. Children under 5 eat free.
"It's a great way to get a jump on the Fourth," said the Rev. Cindy Taylor, of The Church of the Holy Comforter. "Columbia County has just been so gracious to us, it's a way for us to give back" she said.
