In doling out criticism for Guard assignment, writer omitted president

In his June 14 letter in ReadersViews, "Rather than put Guard on the border, vets should be hired for patrol," David Edmiston had two complaints. One involved personnel cuts in the armed forces. The other involved the stationing of the National Guard along the United States-Mexico border.

In the former complaint, he blamed former President Clinton. In the latter complaint, he blamed a major general in the Pentagon.

Though our current U.S. president may not be much of a leader, Edmiston was disingenuous by not giving him some of the blame.

Nowhere in his rather lengthy letter was the name George Bush ever mentioned.
