Columbia County schools sent 13 athletes to the summer Special Olympic state games held at Emory University on June 2-4. More than 2,000 athletes from across the state participated in a variety of sports. The results from the Columbia County athletes are:

Augusta Christian
athletes earn awards from SCISA
Several Augusta Christian Schools athletes took home awards this school year from the South Carolina Independent Schools Association. Junior Casey Brush was named SCISA All-State in softball and track. Jordan Little, Whitney Waters and Lynlee Satcher joined Brush on the All-State track team. Lee Banks and Fred Auston were named to the boy's All-State track team, while Tyler Moore and Matt Moates were named SCISA All-State in golf. Josh Sizemore and Josh Whitaker were both named to the SCISA All-State team in baseball.
