Mercer University inductees

The following Mercer University freshmen were inducted into the Mercer chapter of Phi Eta Sigma National Honor Society: Amy Elizabeth Curtis, of Evans, who is a student at the College of Liberal Arts and is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. David Curtis, of Evans; Stephen Darrell Dominy, of Martinez, a graduate of Evans High School who is a student at the Stetson School of Business and is the son of Darrell and Patti Hartley, of Martinez; Kaitlyn Anne McNair, of Martinez, a graduate of Lakeside High School who is a student at the College of Liberal Arts and is the daughter of Steve and Robin McNair, of Martinez; and Laurie Michelle Copeland, of Evans, a graduate of Greenbrier High School who is a student at the College of Liberal Arts and is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Copeland, of Evans.

Southern Illinois U. Carbondale Dean's List

The following students serving on military bases are among the top 20 percent of the university's undergraduate body: Christine Renee Shedrick, of Evans, and Robert Walter Kilbride, of Grovetown.

Local student receives $24,000 scholarship

Larrie Reece, of Evans, a senior at Augusta Christian Schools, has been awarded a $24,000 Presidential Scholarship to attend the University of Mobile. The award is valued at $6,000 per year awarded over eight consecutive semesters and is renewable provided the recipient maintains a full-time student status per semester and a 3.25 grade-point average. The scholarship includes a $1,000 room-and-board grant each year if the student lives in the residence halls.
