Dessert theater

The Lakeside High School spring dessert theater, a chorus fundraiser featuring desserts, will be held at 6:30 p.m. May 4 and 7 p.m. May 5 at the high school auditorium. Tickets cost $5 in advance at the school or from a chorus student, or $6 at the door. Lakeside High faculty and children younger than 3 are admitted free. Mobile mammography

The Breast Health Center Mobile Mammography Unit will be at the Columbia County Health Department in Evans on Thursday. Appointments are required, and can be made by calling (706) 868-3330. The unit will return to the health department June 22, Aug. 17, Oct. 19 and Dec. 21.

Confederate event

The Confederate Memorial Day service and annual Southern Heritage March will begin with the march at noon Saturday starting at the Confederate monument on Broad Street and ending at Magnolia Cemetery. The service begins at 12:45 p.m. with featured speaker Betty Jane Miller, Edisto District Director of the South Carolina Division United Daughters of the Confederacy. 'Music Man' coming

Meredith Wilson's The Music Man will be performed at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday and May 5-6, and at 3 p.m. as part of the grand opening of the new Columbia County Library and Performing Arts Center. All seats are reserved. Tickets cost $25 and are available at www.tixonline.com or by calling (803) 278-4849. Senior citizens, students and Columbia County Arts members receive a 10 percent discount.
