Editor:
I am an immigrant who came to the United States legally in 1974 and who is living the American dream. As a naturalized citizen, I understand there are millions, maybe hundreds of millions, who want to come to the United States if they have a chance. However, they must respect the law of the land and take steps to come here legally.
I cannot believe the U.S. Senate is considering amnesty for the illegal aliens. They are not undocumented immigrants. They are illegal aliens.
I want the United States to enforce existing immigration laws. Deport illegal aliens and fine employers who hire them. I hear people making excuses that we need cheap labor. I disagree. What employers save in cheap wages can't justify burdens taxpayers bear on increased cost of education, law enforcement, health care and other social services.
I cannot emphasize enough how disappointed I am with elected officials who care more about not offending law breakers than serving American citizens who want secure borders.
