Scholastic achievement awarded to Evans grad

Allison Schofield, a 2004 graduate of Evans High School, has been named a recipient of the Scholastic Achievement Award from Augusta State University. The award honors four students in their freshman, sophomore, junior and senior year who have obtained the highest grade-point average within their class. Allison is a sophomore majoring in early childhood education.

Oxford College fall Merit List

Sumant Ponnala, of Evans, son of Navin Chandra Ponnala and Rajeshwari Devi Ponnala, has been named to the fall Merit List at Oxford College.

Oxford College fall Honor List

Jennifer Yuan, of Martinez, daughter of Mrs. Yen Yen Pu Yuan, has been named to the fall Honor List at Oxford College.

Emory College Dean's List

The following area residents were named to the dean's list of Emory College for the fall semester: Rashmi Ponnala, of Evans, daughter of Navin Chandra Ponnala and Rajeshwari Devi Ponnala; Kunal Sharma, of Martinez, son of Mukut Sharma and Devbala Sharma; Erin Milnes, of Martinez, daughter of Michael D. Milnes; and Margaret M. Milnes; Kevin Brown, of Martinez, son of Dr. Alan Wayne Brown and Sheryl Simmons Brown; Zachary Strother, of Martinez, son of Rodney Wayne Strother and Linda Ellen Strother.

UGA dean's list

Mallory Susan Farmer, of Evans, a sophomore majoring in Arts and Sciences, has been named to the Dean's List for the fall semester at the University of Georgia.

Young Harris Dean's List

Ashley Brooke Ringel has been named to the Dean's List for fall semester at Young Harris College. Ashley is the secretary and historian for the Dorcas Society and treasurer for Phi Theta Kappa and is a writing lab tutor. She is the daughter of David and Deborah Ringel, of Cumming, and the granddaughter of Betty Ringel, of Evans.

The Citadel Dean's List

James Preston Dixon, of Martinez, has been named to the Dean's List at The Citadel by earning a 3.2 or higher grade point ratio. He is majoring in Pre-Business and is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Darryll E. Dixon. Steven Arthur Baxter, of Evans, also has been named to the Dean's List at The Citadel.

The Citadel Dean's List, Gold Star

Michael Anthony Rivera, of Evans, has been named to the Dean's List and also received a Gold Star for achieving a 3.7 grade point average or higher . He is majoring in criminal justice and is the son of Mr. and Mrs. David Enrique Rivera.

University of South Carolina fall Dean's List

The following have been named to the fall Dean's List at the University of South Carolina:

Evans - John Oliver Ellis, Carly Leah Jackson, Jennifer Savannah Keaton;

Grovetown - Brendan Joseph Alberts;

Martinez - Rafik Reda Bassali, Ryan Thomas Herald, Miriam Lee Lentz, Stephen Casey Newman.

Limestone College graduates

Karen Elaine Moore and Shaun Alexander Brooks, both of Martinez, have recently graduated from Limestone College, a small, private liberal arts college in Gaffney, S.C.

Liberty University grad

Paul Green, of Martinez, recently graduated from Liberty University. Green received a bachelor of science degree in communications.
