School board 'misinterpreted' calendar survey; most want later start

Oh my Gosh! I have never seen so many educated people misinterpret raw data to make themselves look good since the last presidential election!

Am I the only one who remembers that the reason for the school survey was to show the Columbia County Board of Education and the central office that people are tired of starting school the first week in August? While the chairman of the board feels that 36.7 percent of the 5,084 votes were showing him that we are all tickled pink with their guidance, if you remember there is still 63.3 percent of us who want you to know they aren't.

That means 63.3 percent of the votes are telling the school board we don't want to start the first week in August, and that was the whole point of this survey and issue.

While being one of those who would have preferred Calendar A option, I still feel that this survey did exactly what it was supposed to do. And as a parent I feel that my 63.3 percent is a much great success story than your 36.7 percent.
