Three athletes reveal their college choices

Three Columbia County athletes took steps toward securing their future at the college level this past week. Lakeside's Ryan Schuler, Augusta Christian's Robert Clifton and Greenbrier's Jennifer Putnam didn't sign national letters of intent, but they did make decisions on where they'd go to college.

After making official campus visits, both Schuler and Clifton were recognized as specially invited walk-ons at Auburn University. Putnam, a senior volleyball standout for the Lady Wolfpack, announced her plans to walk on to the volleyball team at LaGrange College.

Records fall in game

Records came down in a hurry Friday when the Augusta Christian Lady Lions took the court for senior night against Alleluia Community School. Before the game, senior Jordan Little was honored for scoring her 1,000th career point at Ben Lippen on Jan. 27. Little picked up where she left off against Alleluia by scoring 31 points and tallying 10 steals.

Not to be outdone, junior Casey Brush added 22 points and 15 rebounds in a 98-25 Augusta Christian win. The Lady Lions broke school records for points in a game (98), steals in a game (41), forced turnovers in a game (55), steals in a season (476) and tied the record for wins in a season (19). The Lady Lions return to action Thursday, playing host to Heathwood Hall at 6 p.m.
