Complaint to animal control was 'slap in the face,'

Posted: Wednesday, February 01, 2006

Editor:

Almost three years ago, I wrote a letter addressing the person who found it necessary to shoot and kill my three labs. Now I need to address the person who called animal control and reported me for neglecting one of my horses.

Anyone who knows me knows that I am more than compassionate to all of my animals. In fact, they often come first before others, vacations, etc.

The horse in question I rescued from a neglected situation where she and another horse were malnourished. This particular horse was about 400 lbs. underweight!

Both of these horses were starved for attention and food and required supervision when feeding. The horse in question has a tendency to choke on her food due to previous neglect, thus requiring her food to be specially prepared, and she has to be monitored closely at each and every feeding. So, for someone to come along and accuse me of neglecting my horse is a slap in the face. I do not appreciate it and the next time, they feel the need to stick their nose into someone else's business, they should get the facts before calling a government agency.
