ID bus cancelled

Preschool preview

First Baptist Church of Augusta, 3500 Walton Way, will hold an open house at 7 p.m. Thursday for parents interested in the K3, K4 and K5 preschool and kindergarten programs. For information, call Patti Fowler at 731-5366.

Green training

The Columbia County Extension Service is offering turf and ornamental training for green industry workers. All programs begin with registration at 8:30 a.m. and end at 11 a.m. at Savannah Rapids Pavilion on the following dates: Insects, Monday; Diseases, Feb. 7. New traffic signal

A new traffic signal installed on North Belair Road at Ronald Reagan Drive will go into full operation Tuesday. The speed limit on that section of North Belair also will be reduced to 35 mph.

History series

The Augusta Museum of History's next Brown Bag History Series will be at noon Feb. 1 with author Isabel Vandervelde discussing Aiken County history. The program is free to members and costs $3 for nonmembers; reservations are required. Participants bring lunch; the museum provides beverage and dessert. The museum is at 560 Reynolds St. in downtown Augusta. For information, call 722-8454.

Miss Harlem pageant

The 2006 Miss City of Harlem Scholarship Pageant will be Feb. 11 at Harlem High School. Applications are available at the Laurel and Hardy Museum or by e-mailing csrapageants@aol.com. The application deadline is Feb. 7.
