Math night
North Harlem Elementary School will hold its Math, Science and Technology Night from 6-7:30 p.m. Thursday in the school gym, lunchroom and computer lab. Refreshments will be served.
King celebration

Tree recycling
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is accepting real Christmas trees for recycling through Monday at Riverside Middle School on Furys Ferry Road.
Chamber meeting
The Columbia County Chamber of Commerce will hold its inaugural annual meeting at 6 p.m. Jan. 23 at Savannah Rapids Pavilion. The event will honor chamber volunteers and name a small business person of the year and the first Lifetime Achievement Award winner. Library gala

The Historical Miniatures Gaming Society of the Mid South will hold a military history and toy soldier show, Seige of Augusta XV, Jan. 13-15, at the Augusta Towers Hotel. Free smoke detectors
Martinez-Columbia Fire Rescue has begun service in county territory previously covered by the Harlem Fire Department and North Columbia Fire and Rescue.
As Martinez-Columbia firefighters begin servicing the area, they will have free smoke detectors to distribute to any citizen in need of one and will provide free home safety inspections. For information, call 863-7745.
