Martinez restaurant robbed at gunpoint
Police were searching last week for a man who robbed a Subway restaurant in Martinez on Monday, authorities said.
The robber, described as about 40 years old, 5 feet 9 inches tall, with a slim build and beard stubble, stole about $100 from the restaurant at 3821-A Washington Road at about 4:30 p.m., police said.
"He basically walked up, lifted his shirt, showed the clerk a small handgun in his waistband and said, 'Give me the money,'" Columbia County sheriff's Lt. Andy Shedd said.
No one was hurt in the robbery, Lt. Shedd said. Anyone with information about the crime is asked to call the Columbia County Sheriff's Office at 541-2800.

Two men posing as Georgia Power employees tricked an elderly Evans woman out of $10 in December.
The victim, who lives on Blackstone Camp Road, said the men looked at her gas heater Dec. 20 and charged her for the service.
The next day, a Georgia Natural Gas employee told the 88-year-old nothing was wrong with her gas connection.
Officials from both utility companies said neither man worked for them. Similar incidents occurred during the previous month in Augusta.
