Library gala
Columbia County Arts is sponsoring a black-tie fundraising gala for the new library and performing arts center.

Free smoke detectors
Martinez-Columbia Fire Rescue will begin service in county territory previously covered by the Harlem Fire Department and North Columbia Fire and Rescue at 7 a.m. Saturday.
As Martinez-Columbia firefighters begin servicing the area, they will have free smoke detectors to distribute to any citizen in need of one and will provide free home safety inspections. Call 863-7745.
