Forget the vocal coach; it's time for some sports-minded caroling

Harlem's Woodard is star of song

One of the greatest, but slowly fading, traditions of the Christmas season is neighborhood Christmas caroling. It hasn't stood the test of time like decorating the Christmas tree, but there's still hope.

I think we need to add a little more sports into the Christmas season. As a Christmas gift to all you Columbia County sports fans, I've come up with a few "sports-friendly" carols.

So, bundle up and treat your neighbors to your own rendition of these slightly altered timeless classics:

Jingle Bells (Columbia County Medley)

Jingle bells, jingle bells, jingle all the way.

Oh what fun it is to watch the Lady Wolfpack play - hey!

Defense swells, coach Black yells, Sweic saves the day.

Lewis is too short at post, but that won't stop her game.

Dashing through the zone

Durr drives through the lane.

Miller lets one go

Three point all the way!

Wuchte, Clark and Turner

Taking rebounds high

Oh, what fun it is to watch

E-Town win tonight.

Oh!, jingle bells, jingle bells, jingle all the way.

Riverside middle boys 12 and 0 today - hey!

Grovetown girls, also had an undefeated year

Now all you moms, stop calling me and yelling in my ear!

The 12 Days of Columbia County Christmas

On the 12th day of Christmas prep basketball gave to me ...

Twelve Luther rebounds

Eleven Lady Wolfpack wins

Ten Durr free throws

Nine Ajay fade-aways

Eight Sweic steals

Seven Crosland double-doubles

Six healthy Lady Lions

Five Glenn Miller threes

Four Middleton layups

Three Kyle Redd shoulder injuries

Two bogus Kim Chambers technicals

... and a sports writer in a pear tree.

Joy to the World (and the Panthers)

Joy to the world, Lakeside beat Harlem.

Fain tied it, then Brandenburg took the lead.

It was the Panthers' first win.

The leading scorer was Bena Tshishiku.

Nothing rhymes with Tshishiku.

Nothing rhymes with Tshishiku.

Nothing, nothing rhymes with Tshishiku.

Here Comes Santa Claus (Wolfpack Style)

Here comes Casey Dees, here comes Casey Dees

Right down William Few Parkway.

He's got a lot of new boys on the team;

I don't know half their names.

They've done well, though, without two former stars;

That makes everything right.

So work on your press and say your prayers,

'Cause Casey Dees comes tonight.

Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer (has nothing on Woodard)

April, the Lady Bulldog, has a very nice jump shot,

And if you ever defended her, you would soon wish you had not.

All of the other Lady Bulldogs, hope to just catch her dish.

If they could get April to shoot more, it would confirm their wish.

Then in last year's region game, Butler came to play.

Woodard lit them up for 39, and then they won the game.

Now all Lady Bulldogs, make her shoot all the time.

April, the Lady Bulldog, you're the best at Harlem High.

Merry Christmas to all and to all a good game.
