Evelyn Anderson presented her pupils in a Christmas voice and piano recital at the Appling Grammar School on Tuesday.
Included in the program were Diane Eubank, Carol Knox, Brett McGuire, Bobby Tankersley, Susan Eubank, Alice Ann Smith, Byron McGuire, Lenore Blanchard, Elaine Tankersley, Jackie Dempsey, Linda and Patricia Wilson, Whit Blanchard, Jackie Gales, Vickie Crawford, Kay Bennett, Leon Martinovich, Linda Shaw, Andrea Anderson, Janice Davis, Leonard Blanchard, Elaine Morris, Sherry Bennett and Linda Shaw.
Christmas carols by the choral group closed out the program.
New phone books
A measure of the growth of Harlem and surrounding communities is the large increase in the number of telephone directories distributed this week to local subscribers.
Approximately 650 new directories are being delivered to homes and businesses, according to J.M. Williams, manager for Southern Bell Telephone Co.
The new telephone directory has many new and changed listings and other helpful telephone information. It is easily distinguishable from the old green-covered telephone book by its gray cover. .
Harlem Bulldogs defeat Aquinas
Harlem's Bulldogs played a rugged defensive second half to overcome a 24-19 halftime deficit and defeate Aquinas 48-43 at home Friday night.
The victory was the Bulldogs' eighth in nine starts, while the visiting Shamrocks absorbed their first defeat.
