Because of DFACS unresponsiveness, families won't get assistance

Editor:

I have a complaint about the Columbia County Department of Family and Children Services.

Around the middle of October this year, I contacted a caseworker to ask for a couple of families who could use some help during this Christmas season. I told her we had money to help the families buy food, gifts or whatever they really need.

I did not hear from the caseworker again till I called her the first week in November. Again I heard nothing until the very end of November. The gentleman who called me left the office phone number and that of his cell phone. I could not understand the cell number so I called the office one more time. I was told they could not give out cell numbers, but I could leave a message.

I left a message to call me; as of this date and time I have not had any further contact with DFACS.

As a result of us being ignored, several kids in Columbia County will miss out on a better Christmas. We spent the money on some inner-city kids and we will continue to do so. We have no intentions of trying to work with Columbia County DFACS ever again.
