Cheerleaders win

The Lakeside competition cheerleading squad continued their winning tradition Saturday by winning the Region Championship for the third consecutive year. The squad, which has won five of the past six region championships, will move on to the state sectional Friday in Columbus, Ga.

Harlem fans treated

Facing region rival Thomson this past Saturday, the Harlem Bulldogs fell 79-72, but Harlem fans who made the journey to Thomson, Ga., were treated to an offensive explosion from one Harlem senior.

Forward Ajay Miller put up 31 points in the contest, including four 3-pointers. The night before, Harlem played host to Hephzibah and lost 45-42, but Miller turned in a 24-point performance with four more 3-pointers.

In the weekend's two games, Miller totaled 55 points and eight 3-pointers.

Coach Lane wins again

Augusta Christian football coach Bruce Lane had one final football game to win before closing the book on the 2005 season. On Saturday, Lane coached the South Carolina Independent School Association South All-Stars to a 10-0 win over the SCISA North All-Stars. Along with Lane, Augusta Christian seniors Jordan Yates, Paul Alewine, Brad Meister and Austin Greene helped the South All-Stars to victory. Meister rushed for 20 yards on two carries and tallied 12 tackles, while Yates added eight tackles.
