Heggie's Rock guide training
Training sessions for volunteers to lead field trips to Heggie's Rock preserve in Appling will be held Tuesday. The sessions will be conducted by the Nature Conservancy in collaboration with Dr. Judy Gordon of Augusta State University. Free legal help
Georgia Legal Services program staff will provide free legal help to senior citizens on a first-come, first-served basis from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Monday at the Grovetown Senior Center, 103 W. Robinson St. For information, call 721-2327.
Tax classes
AARP tax aides are needed and can receive free instruction on electronically filing tax returns. Computer experience is necessary. Training will be held Dec. 12-16, Jan. 17-20 and Jan. 23-24. Volunteers, who are reimbursed for mileage, are obligated to serve a minimum of four hours per week. For information, call Bill Kozel at 210-3048.
Shoe drive
The Georgia Podiatric Medical Association is sponsoring a collection of new and used shoes for the homeless through Jan. 3. Donations may be brought to any Augusta-area podiatrist's office. For information, call 724-0586.
Craft fair
The Lakeside High School Educational Enhancement craft fair and silent auction will be held from 6-9 p.m. Friday at Savannah Rapids Pavilion, with a raffle, door prizes and 14 craft vendors. Proceeds will benefit education programs at Lakeside. The event is being held as part of a senior project by a Lakeside student.
