Instead of new arena, county might consider building an aquarium

Editor:

I recently have been reading that a committee was looking into building another civic center, but in Columbia County.

A while ago the Civic Center was hosting an ice show, and I thought it would be nice to take some young girls with me to see the show. I called for information on the tickets and found out that the cheapest tickets were $45 and the seats were way up in the stands. How is it possible for a family to do an outing like that, pay big bucks for the tickets and then pay more once inside for programs and treats? Now to build a brand new place, the tickets will be even more expensive and most of the community will not be able to use it.

I would like to suggest instead of another Civic Center, why not build an aquarium on a smaller scale than the one that is opening in Atlanta? Families would be able to spend the day there and afford it, and the schools would have a great place for field trips and studies.
