Heggie's Rock guide training

Training sessions for volunteers to lead field trips to Heggie's Rock preserve in Appling will be held Dec. 13. For information, call Columbia County Community and Leisure Services at 868-3484.

Garden seminar

The Columbia County Extension Service Gardening at Lunch seminar will begin at 12:10 p.m. today at the Columbia County Government Complex Auditorium in Evans. Extension agent Sid Mullis will discuss dividing perennials. For information, call 868-3413.

Seafood at VFW

The American Legion Post 192 in Evans will hold seafood night beginning at 7 p.m. today. For information, call 863-8728.

Veterans events

- Lakeside Middle School will hold its sixth annual Celebration of Everyday Heroes at 9 a.m. Thursday, featuring Thomas M. Walker, a retired Army colonel.

- Martinez Elementary will hold a Veterans Day assembly at 2 p.m. Friday. All this week, the MES Military Museum compiled from students and their families, will be on display in the media center.

- The CSRA-Augusta Veterans Day Parade will begin at 10 a.m. Friday in downtown Augusta, beginning at Sacred Heart Cultural Center and ending on Broad and Fourth streets at the All Wars Monument.

- The Lakeside High School Wind Symphony, directed by Jim Tau, will perform a Veterans Day concert at 7 p.m. Friday at Warren Baptist Church, 3203 Washington Road.

Fall carnival

Sharon Baptist Church, at 6262 Cobbham Road in Winfield, will hold its fall carnival from 4-7 p.m. Saturday. For information, call 541-2112, 541-1532 or 541-2027.

Community bingo

Mount Up Ministries of Appling will hold a community bingo fundraiser starting at 5:30 p.m. Saturday at Eubank Blanchard Community Center in Appling. Concessions will be available.

Anniversary show

Spiritual Voices, an Appling singing group, will hold its first anniversary performance at 5 p.m. Saturday at Second Mount Carmel Baptist Church. For information, call 284-5929.
