Art will return to the barn in Columbia County on Saturday.
The Artist's Guild of Columbia County will play host for Art in the Barn II from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Barn at Riverwood Plantation.
The event will feature various types of art including watercolor, painting, acrylic, fabric art, oil, pastel, sculpture, ceramics, cornhusk dolls and woodcarvings, said Nancy Cannon, of the Artist's Guild.
"There will be a variety of foods including luscious desserts, cheeses and crackers, and Swedish meatballs," Cannon said. "The $10 at the door includes music, two glasses of wine, desserts and finger foods."
Laurie Ott, of television station WRDW, will be the master of ceremonies for an art auction at 8:30 p.m. at which donated artwork from guild members will be sold.
"It will be very eclectic," Cannon said. "There will be at least 60 pieces of art in the auction."
The Artist's Guild of Columbia County, which has been around for a little more than a year, hopes to spread an interest and education of art in the area, Cannon said.
"It will be a night of enjoyment even if you're not an art lover," Cannon said. "We want people to come out and have a good time."
Guild member Don Kruzinski agreed.
''Art in the Barn will introduce the community to talents available within their community and introduce the artists to opportunities for people to purchase their art," Kruzinski said.
Organizers say the barn setting is an ideal venue for showing art during the fall.
"The barn makes it a casual setting, and the artwork shines there with the old wood and lighting," said Michele Johnson, a member of the guild. "The artists say their art never looks better."
The Barn at Riverwood Plantation is on 5123 Riverwood Parkway in Evans. Tickets are $10 at the door for adults and $5 for ages 5-17. Younger children will be admitted at no cost. For more information, contact Nancy Cannon at (706) 854-8974 or www.artistguildcc.org.
