Editor:
This is a letter about the unreliable and irresponsible actions of Evans High School.
I am a student at Evans and have been since my ninth-grade year. The actions of the faculty have really concerned me lately. You would think the faculty, especially the assistant principals, would want to hear about any problem; yet that doesn't seem to be the case. I leave a message for them to call me and talk to them; they never do.
What really gets me, though, is when the school won't even admit to their mistakes, or recognize that they made one.
I have tried to fight the system before but I found out a long time ago that they will say anything so they won't look bad. They say that they care about the kids there, but their actions show no sign of this.
I admit I am not the best-behaved student in my classes, and I have been in the suspension realm a couple of times. But when I have nine or 10 witnesses, most of whom I don't know, the faculty just says they will review it and talk to the principal about it and they never do. There's no reason for that.
My understanding is that the Board of Education itself does not want to deal with the school's problems because there are so many and they are tired of hearing about them. This letter should be a wake-up call to Principal Don Brigdon about what is happening at his school.
I never have and never will be able to get anywhere in that school and I know that, so I write this not to get even or retaliate but so they will learn and correct their mistakes so that other kids won't have to try to fight a system that is supposed to be on their side.
