In spite of 'overwhelming' encouragement, no candidacy for next year

Even though the Columbia County Commission elections are not until next summer, one must plan a political campaign many months ahead. After very careful consideration, I have made the decision not to offer myself for public service at this time.

I have been overwhelmed by the number of individuals offering support to my candidacy, including state Sen. Jim Whitehead, and am very appreciative of the confidence they have placed in me.

However, at this particular point in my life, I have decided that there are other avenues of public service that I want to pursue for now, including a more active role in my Rotary Club and leading a church mission trip to Nicaragua next September.

In closing, I want to thank everyone who has offered me their support.

I feel very blessed to be a part of such a dynamic community.
