West Lake closure

The Furys Ferry Road entrance to West Lake will be closed starting at 5 a.m. Monday until noon Oct. 31 for construction of storm drains as part of the Furys Ferry widening project.

River Ridge bazaar

River Ridge Elementary School will hold a holiday bazaar from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 5, with vendor booths from companies including Pampered Chef, Mary Kay, Cookie Lee Jewelry. Booth space is available. For information, call Janeabeth Wells at 854-8460.

Gaza presentation

Mike Cohen, a senior fellow at the Galilee Institute in Israel, will discuss Israel's pullout from Gaza at 4 p.m. today at Augusta Jewish Community Center, 898 Weinberger Way, Evans. For information, call 228-3636.

Writers meeting

CSRA Writers will meet at 6:30 p.m. Monday at Barnes & Noble Booksellers, 1336 Augusta West Parkway. Writers needing a support group are invited to attend and bring eight copies of a manuscript to be critiqued. For information, call Lela Turnbull at 739-4114.

Sierra Club meets

Marlena Altvater, of Georgia Forestry Commission, will discuss keeping homes safe from wildfire at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Sierra Club's monthly meeting at the Unitarian Universalist Church, Walton Way Extension. For information, call Judy Gordon at 650-8314.

Mistletoe events

South Carolina storyteller Tim Hall will provide an evening of storytelling at 7 p.m. Friday at the assembly shelter of Mistletoe State Park, 3727 Mistletoe Road in Winfield. The annual dulcimer workshop and concert will be held from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday and the family fall festival will be from 5-10 p.m. Saturday with hay rides, a band, games and a bonfire. Admission to all events is free with a $3 park fee. Call 541-0321.
