Wet weather and a muddy playing field couldn't stop the Augusta Christian Lions on Friday night as they racked up another victory against Cardinal Newman, 29-8.
Lions head coach Bruce Lane said he thought his team's greatest strengths were "playing consistently and being able to adapt to the environment in which we had to play," though Lane said the team still needs to work on eliminating potentially costly errors.
ACS maintained a commanding lead throughout the game, with a halftime score of 14-0. The Lions allowed Cardinal Newman only one touchdown and one two-point conversion in the fourth quarter. But Lane said Cardinal Newman earned those points because of two of his team's errors.
Lee Banks scored two touchdowns for the Lions while Jay Harmon scored one.
This Friday, the Lions will leave Pride Valley to take on Ben Lippen High School in Columbia.
The following Friday, ACS will celebrate homecoming with a game against the Hammond School.
