Renaissance festival

Columbia County's Seventh Annual Arts and Renaissance Festival and Juried Art Show begins with the awards reception and silent auction at 7 p.m. Friday and continues with demonstrations and arts and craft vendors Saturday and Sunday at Savannah Rapids Pavilion. For information, call 312-7194.

Church yard sale

Wesley United Methodist Church will hold its annual fall yard sale from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. The church is at 825 N. Belair Road in Evans. Proceeds will go to missions.

Pageant planned

The 2005 Miss Columbia County Fair Scholarship Pageant will be held Saturday. The pageant, sponsored by the Merchants Association of Columbia County, is for single women age 16-24 (17 by Jan. 15, 2006) who are residents of the area. Competition will be in swimsuit, evening gown and interview. The winner will represent the county at the state pageant in Atlanta in January. Teen photo contest

Saturday is the deadline for teens to enter photographs in Gibbs Library's contest in honor of Teen Read Week, Oct. 16-22. Contestants should submit a 5x7 photo of appropriate content by Saturday. Pumpkin patch

Writers meeting

Whiteoak fall meeting

Soldier show

The annual Soldier Show visits Fort Gordon with two free performances in Alexander Hall at 8 p.m. Saturday and at 6 p.m. Oct. 16.

Saturday is the deadline to register for the Augusta Alumni Chapter of Tuskegee University's one-day bus trip to Tuskegee University for open house Oct. 29. Christian concert

Augusta Christian Schools will play host to Christian singer Steve Green in a Christmas concert at 7 p.m. Dec. 16 at West Acres Baptist Church on Gibbs Road, Evans. The ACS high school and elementary choruses will sing backup.

The Augusta Canal's second annual Big Boo! Boat Rides will be held Oct. 28-29, with trick-or-treating at the Canal Interpretive Center and a 40-minute canal boat ride for children from 5-6:30 p.m. Costumes are encouraged for children and chaperones.
