Say cheese.
Gibbs Memorial Library will hold a Teen Read Week Photography Contest on Oct. 16-22.
"Every year we have a different theme," said Kleo Hidalgo, of the library.
"This year's theme is 'get real,' so all photos should be based on reality," Hidalgo said.
Teens enrolled in grades 6-12 are encouraged to submit a 5x7 photograph of appropriate content by Oct. 15 for entry into the contest.
"Appropriate content could be like pictures from a football game, or pictures taken from a summer vacation spot," Hidalgo said. "We want the students to have freedom (of choosing a subject), but nothing horror."
Winners will receive gift certificates from Best Buy, Hidalgo said.
All photographs submitted will be displayed at the library.
Those wishing to vote on the photographs can do so in the library.
Teens must include their name and telephone number on all submitted photographs, Hidalgo said.
Winners will be notified by phone, and prizes will be awarded Oct. 28.
Teen Read Week is an effort to get children to read for pleasure, and not just homework, Hidalgo said.
Gibbs Memorial Library is at 326 North Belair Road in Evans.
