The following accounts were taken from reports filed with the Columbia County Sheriff's Office:

School playground vandalized

An employee at a Grovetown elementary school told police Thursday that someone vandalized the school's playground.

The secretary of Euchee Creek Elementary School, 795 Louisville Road near Grovetown, said that during the night of Sept. 28 someone went onto school grounds and broke two concrete benches into pieces. She said trash also was thrown all over the playground and the swing set chains were wrapped around the poles.

Golf clubhouse burglarized

A golf professional at the new Bartram Trail Golf Club told police Sunday that someone burglarized the clubhouse during the night.

The pro said someone broke a rear window to the building and stole various items. Exactly what was stolen is not known until an inventory can be done.

School playground equipment damaged

An employee of Westmont Elementary School told police that on Sept. 28 someone damaged, and possibly ruined, several pieces of playground equipment.

An assistant principal said someone damaged several items on the playground, 4558 Oakley Pirkle Road in Martinez, by writing graffiti on them between Sept. 23-28. The official said a $1,000 play board, a $10,000 spiral slide and a $4,000 riding bulldozer toy were discovered to have curse words and pornographic drawings on them.

The assistant principal said the items might need to be replaced because school officials tried unsuccessfully to remove the graffiti.

A coach at Lakeside High School recently reported vandalism to the school's football field.

The coach told police Friday someone used gasoline Sept. 28 to write the number "420" into the grass on both sides of the football field. The gasoline caused the grass to die.
