Sleeper to speak

Vendors needed
Columbia County is seeking vendors for the seventh annual Arts and Renaissance Festival and Juried Art Show, to be held Oct. 14 and 16 at Savannah Rapids Pavilion. Call 312-7194.
School carnivals
- Greenbrier Elementary School will hold its fall carnival and silent auction from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.
- Brookwood Elementary School, at 455 S. Old Belair Road, will hold its fall festival from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.
- Blue Ridge Elementary School will hold its fall festival from 10-2 Saturday.
Grovetown barbecue
Grovetown United Methodist Church will hold its annual Fall Chicken-Que from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. Festivities will include a churchwide yard sale and bake sale from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Lunch plates will include a grilled chicken half, green beans, coleslaw, tea and bread. The church is at 206 E. Robinson Ave.
Yard sale benefit
The children and youths of Mosaic United Methodist Church will hold a yard sale from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday to raise money for hurricane relief efforts. The sale will take place, rain or shine, at the Mosaic office, 476 Columbia Industrial Blvd., across from Howard Lumber in Evans. For information, call Jeff Hartley at 267-2322.
Fish fry and bazaar
Martinez United Methodist Church, at 3614 Washington Road, will hold a bazaar and fish fry from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday. All money made from the event will go to missions. Call 863-6541.
Church yard sale
The Shepherd's Church, on Highway 150 (Cobbham Road) in Winfield, will hold a yard sale from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday at the church. Proceeds will go to the new kitchen fund.
