Jail monitored
The installation of the monitoring system approv-ed by the Columbia County Board of Commissioners for the jail in Appling has been completed.
The board approved the purchase of the system from Augusta Sound, Inc., at a cost of $6,983 after one successful escape from the jail and one thwarted attempt by two prisoners.
