Family book night
Greenbrier Elementary School's Family Book Night will be held from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday in the media center.
Oktoberfest
American Legion Post 192 in Evans will celebrate Oktoberfest and hold a silent auction starting at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday. Bidding in the auction begins at 1 p.m. and ends at 7:15 p.m. For information, call 863-6549 or 863-8728.
Homes shown
Today is the final day for the Metro Augusta Builders Association's annual Showcase of Homes at River Island off Blackstone Camp Road. Tours will be open from 1-6 p.m.; proceeds from ticket sales go to Kids Restart and Hope House.
Pageant planned
Contestants are being sought for the 2005 Miss Columbia County Fair Scholarship Pageant, to be held Oct. 15. The pageant, sponsored by the Merchants Association of Columbia County, is for single women, ages 16-24 (17 by Jan. 15, 2006) who are residents of the Augusta area. Hours extended
The Evans post office will hold extended hours and half-price on passport photos from 2-6:30 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday.
Democrats meet
Columbia County Emergency Services Division Director Pam Tucker will be the guest speaker at the 7 p.m. Monday meeting of the Democratic Party of Columbia County, to be held in Building A of the Columbia County Government Center.
Yard sale
The Augusta chapter of the Embroiderer's Guild of America will hold its annual yard sale from 7 a.m. to noon Saturday at Marvin United Methodist Church, Wheeler at Belair roads.
Fall carnivals
Greenbrier Elementary School will hold its fall carnival and silent auction from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.
Brookwood Elementary School, at 455 S. Old Belair Road, will hold its fall festival from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.
