Showcase of Homes
The Metro Augusta Builders Association's annual Showcase of Homes continues from 1-6 p.m. today at River Island off Blackstone Camp Road, and again noon-5 p.m. Thursday and Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 1-6 p.m. Oct. 2. Proceeds from ticket sales go to Kids Restart and Hope House.
Public hearing
Columbia County's Solid Waste Management Department will hold a public hearing at 7 p.m. Monday in the Government Center Auditorium in Evans as part of the county's Solid Waste Management Plan update. For information, call Costa Pappis at 210-2000.
Greenbrier book fair
Greenbrier Elementary School's book fair will be held 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday-Friday in the school's media center. Family Book Fair Night Will be held from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday.
Pageant planned
Contestants are being sought for the 2005 Miss Columbia County Fair Scholarship Pageant to be held Oct. 15. The pageant, sponsored by the Merchants Association of Columbia County, is for single women, ages 16-24 (17 by Jan. 15, 2006) who are residents of the CSRA. Competition will be in swimsuit, evening gown and interview. The winner will represent Columbia County at the state pageant in Atlanta in January. Look-alikes sought
The Laurel and Hardy Museum is seeking Oliver Hardy and Stan Laurel look-alikes to compete at the 17th annual Oliver Hardy Festival to be held Oct. 1 in Harlem. For information, call Kathy Ham at 556-0401.
