'Giving, loving' community generous with donations

My name is Kaitlyn Dunaway. I am 11 years old. I would like to thank the American Red Cross and Wal-Mart Manager Patrick Clifford for letting me perform in front of Wal-Mart in Evans to help raise money for the victims of Hurricane Katrina.

I sang and danced Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, Sept. 7, 8 and 9. I really enjoyed it because it was for a good cause. I would also like to thank the wonderful people who donated money. They are very giving and loving. I had the opportunity to meet Mr. Bob, Mr. Ed and Mr. Walt of the Red Cross. I even danced with the Augusta Lynx!

I also had the opportunity to meet 5-year-old Maria. She sat in a buggy in front of me while I sang and danced. Despite her leg braces, she is going to become a beautiful dancer someday. She gave me a big hug and we said goodbye.

Thank you again for all these opportunities!
