Harlem High PTA meets
The Parent-Teacher Association of Harlem High School held the first regular meeting of the new school year on Thursday evening, Sept. 6, with a large number of parents, teachers, relatives, friends and visitors present. This was a combined business and social meeting.
Francis Tracy called the meeting to order and presided very graciously, extending an informal welcome to all present and, in particular, to new faculty members and newcomers to the community.
He then called on Mrs. Reopard Whiddon as song leader to lead in singing one stanza of some song, with America her selection. Ruth Smith, chaplain, was asked to lead the inspirational period.
Routine business was then conducted, with the minutes of the May meeting approved. The treasurer reported a balance of $255.41.
Fun and games at Mundy's
Mr. and Mrs. Bailey Mundy invited a group of neighbors, family and friends to their home on Saturday evening for a get-together in which favorite games were played, such as Parcheesi, Scrabble, Chinese Checkers and Crokinole.
Some of the group had not played some of the games in long years, but all soon picked them up and some championship contests went on, with a lot of fellowship and fun in the playing.
