Bekki Matthews is the 2005-06 Media Specialist of the Year.

Bekki Matthews graduated from Lakeside High School and attended the University of Georgia, where she received a bachelor of arts degree in English and a masters of education in instructional technology. Her first position was at Cross Creek High School in Richmond County, where she was one of two media specialists to open the media center. In 2002, Matthews began her employment at Lakeside High, where she hopes to remain until her retirement in 23 years.
She and her husband, Jason, have two children - Callie, 4, and Charlie, 15 months old. Matthews says she works with a wonderful faculty and gets to interact and be inspired by an outstanding group of young adults on a daily basis.
