Campaign kickoff
The kickoff for the Central Savannah River Area Combined Federal Campaign will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sept. 1 at Fort Gordon's Alexander Hall on Chamberlain Avenue. The goal this year is to raise $635,000, including $360,000 raised by Fort Gordon. The money will help charities and activities on and off the post. For more information, call 791-6300.
Mothers Day Out

Phone-book recycling
Keep Columbia County Beautiful has placed two recycling bins for telephone books at the Government Complex and the Water Works building on Evans to Locks Road. For information, call 868-3484.
'Music Man' auditions
Columbia County Arts will hold open auditions for performances of The Music Man, to be staged during the grand opening of the Jabez Stanford Hardin Performing Arts Center in Evans in spring 2006. Auditions for children age 7 to 14 will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Sept. 17; auditions for actors 15 and older will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. Sept. 18 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sept. 19.
