Youth barbecue

The youth program of Walnut Grove Baptist Church will hold a barbecue fundraiser from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Eubank Blanchard Community Center, 6868 Cobbham Road, Appling. Barbecue chicken plates are available for $6. For information, call 309-9451.

GOP breakfast

U.S. Rep. Charlie Norwood will be the guest speaker at 9 a.m. Saturday at the monthly breakfast meeting of the Columbia County Republican Party at the Peppermill Restaurant in Evans. The cost for breakfast is $6.

Consolidation discussion

Ralph H. Walker will be the guest speaker at 7 p.m. Monday at the monthly meeting of the Democratic Party of Columbia County. Dr. Walker, the director of the ASU Foundation Research Center and professor emeritus of the Department of Political Science at Augusta State University, will discuss consolidation. Ballet performance
