Phone-book recycling

Keep Columbia County Beautiful has placed two recycling bins for telephone books at the Government Complex and the Water Works building on Evans to Locks Road. For information, call 868-3484.

Seedling applications

The Georgia Forestry Commission Columbia County Unit is accepting orders for the upcoming 2005-06 planting season. Landowners are urged to submit orders early for good selection. For a complete price list for pine and hardwood seedlings, call 556-3962.

Crop assistance

Producers who suffered crop loss from damaging weather in 2003 and 2004, and lost certain crops in 2005, are eligible for assistance through the Crop Disaster Program until close of business Sept. 9. For information, call (706) 595-1339, ext. 2.

Spaghetti supper

The Columbia County Cares annual spaghetti supper fundraiser will be held from 4:30-7:30 p.m. Sept. 15 at Marvin United Methodist Church, Belair Road at Wheeler Road. Tickets cost $5, with a family maximum of $20. Call 541-2834.
