The following accounts were taken from reports filed with the Columbia County Sheriff's Office:

Puppy theft at

library reported

An Evans man reported the theft of his puppy Monday, telling authorities a woman who had asked to take the puppy to get it some water never returned with the pet.

The man, who was at Gibbs Library at 326 N. Belair Road in Evans, said the woman placed the dog into a white van and left.

The man said he waited two hours, but the woman didn't return.

Patriots Park

property damaged

A Columbia County Recreation Department employee told police Monday that someone caused $80 in damage to equipment at Patriots Park.

The man, who works at the park at 4554 Columbia Road in Grovetown, said someone damaged two metal signs and two picnic tables.

The incident occurred between 5 p.m. Aug. 12 and 10 a.m. Monday.

Man's check

taken from home

A Martinez man told police Tuesday that someone had taken a blank check from his home and paid some of their bills using the checking account.

The man, who lives in the 3000 block of Foxfire Place, said he was informed about the incident after his bank gave him a copy of the check, which was paid to a woman for $275 and cashed Aug. 1.

The man said someone also used his account to pay for two Georgia Power bills in July and two T-Mobile cell phone bills in August. The incident occurred sometime between July 12 and Tuesday .
